For those who are particularly fond of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant golden milk, we thought we would share Dr. Ashley's time-saving secret. Preparing golden milk in a bigger batch will save some time when the hankering for a spicy, anti-inflammatory drink hits you. This also makes a lovely gift.
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups turmeric powder
1/2 cup ground ginger
1/2 cup ground cinnamon
2 1/2 tablespoons ground black pepper
2 tablespoons ground cardamom
2 tablespoons ground cloves
2 tablespoon ground nutmeg
INSTRUCTIONS
Add all of the spices to a medium-sized mixing bowl and stir until well combined. Store in an air-tight glass container preferably out of direct sun light.
When ready to enjoy a warming mug of golden milk, heat 8 ounces of coconut milk (or your preferred milk) in a small saucepan until it simmers. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of the golden milk powder. Remove from the heat and stir in a teaspoon of MCT oil and raw honey (or wholesome sweetener of your choice).
Recipe notes: If you are on an autoimmune protocol, simple omit the black pepper, cardamom, and nutmeg if you are sensitive to them.
